The Arizona Kitchen re-opens with lavish renovation and new menu The Arizona Kitchen closed its doors for two months to complete a dramatic renovation in the award-winning dining room and lounge. Spending over $250,000 in refurbishments, the restaurant’s new décor of “refined Southwestern intimacy” features deep muted shades of auburn and burnt orange. The tables are now flanked by cozy chairs covered with sumptuous brown and tan leathers. New tiling throughout the exhibition kitchen, in an alternating rouge and gold mosaic, accents new Southwestern wall art hung above the inviting banquettes. A new custom-built, glass-enclosed wine cellar has also been added near the entrance of The Arizona Kitchen. The rows of bottles on display create the feeling that guests are entering an exclusive hacienda. A facelift to the Copper Bar in the Kachina Lounge includes deep earth tones and high-backed wooden chairs stained to match. According to the designer, the new look complements the Arizona Kitchen’s notoriety as an intimate, Sonoran Desert-inspired dining room. This is the first major enhancement since the restaurant opened in 1988. “We are committed to maintaining the restaurant’s reputation as one of the very finest dining experiences in Arizona,” says Simone Frerk, resort manager. In addition to the new look, Chef de Cuisine Patrick Gaudet has revamped the menu to feature items from Native Seeds/SEARCH such as shalako and red scarlet runner beans, as well as other ingredients indigenous to Arizona. New flavors include chayote squash, piquillo peppers, agave mead, and hoja santa, also known as Mexican Pepperleaf. The resulting menu includes specialties like Buffalo Chile Relleno with Blackberry Gastrique and White Chocolate Mole; Oxtail Guajillo Chile Ravioli with Hominy; Grilled Buffalo Tenderloin with Chile Dusted Potato Cake, Agave Mead and Blueberry Gravy; and a Southwestern Vegetable Salad with Heirloom Tomatoes, Chayote Squash, Tomatillos, Piquillo Pepper Dressing and Corn ‘Caviar.’ The Arizona Kitchen has long been regarded as one of the state’s premium fine-dining restaurants. The combination of stellar service, an extensive wine list and world-class cuisine has scored The Arizona Kitchen many impressive awards, including the Four Diamond Award from AAA, and the Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator magazine. The restaurant is open seven days a week for breakfast and lunch, and is open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday.
